Seattle Persian and Himalayan Rescue

SPHR Logo

Seattle Persian and Himalayan Rescue (SPHR) was founded in 2004 by Adrienne Buttleman with a goal of rescuing purebred Persians and Himalayans from kill shelters. The organization obtained it 501(c)3 nonprofit status in 2009. They strive to rescue every possible (and many unadopable) Persian and Himalayan from the shelters we work with in the Northwest, and also do their best to assis owners that need to rehome cats. When we have the space and funds, we extend our care to other breeds of cats as well as mixes and domestic (mutt) cats.

**The below cats are not affiliated with Ciders Haven Cattery. SPHR is a ethical and reputable rescue group that I strongly reccomend if you are looking for an adult cat to add to your family. Please do not contact me about these available cats but instead, contact the rescue group at seattlerescue@hotmail.com**

Below are some of the cats that have been adtoped through SPHR. To view a current list of adoptable cats, visit them on Petfinder.

RescueSassy is a 9-year-old, declawed, smoke tortishell persian with personality plus. She is the perfect combination of 'tude and entertaining qualities - the honors student who gets into trouble because she just can't sit still. Sassypants is obsessed with water and will often sit in the kitchen sink waiting for a drink - even though her Drinkwell water fountain is available 24/7. She loves to roll on the washing machine machine when it's shaking. She follows her foster mom from room to room. Sassy is an alpha cat who gets along with the mellow male cat and senior dog in her foster home, but doesn't like competition with the other female cat in her foster home. Sassy must remain on a special diet the rest of her life (Royal Canin SO dry) to keep her healthy and prefers to be in a quiet, low stress environment without small children. Sassy's adoption fee is $100.

RescuePoor Finn was found horribly matted, scared, and hiding under a car on Capitol Hill. A good samaritan found him and called us. He went to the local public shelter where he was not reclaimed by his owner, after which we took him in and got him all fixed up. He literally had one large, 3" thick mat covering his entire body! Despite all this, Finn is a very friendly, outgoing guy. He loves everyone. He enjoys all the attention he can get and is also friendly toward cats and cat-savvy dogs. A home where he would be plenty of attention would be best. His fur is currently shaved due to severe matting, so one should expect his coat to require frequent grooming once it grows back. Finn is neutered, combo tested, microchipped, and up to date on FVRCP vaccine. Please email if you are interested in meeting this handsome boy. His adoption fee is $150.

RescueGeorgie is a adorable 4 year old silver Persian recently rescued from his owner in eastern WA that could no longer keep him due to a divorce. He came in with his daughter and breeding partner who are also available. Georgie is a little shy around strangers. He won't get on your lap unless invited . . .and then he turns into a real lap cat. Georgie is very loving. He will be a great companion! Georgie needs a special forever home with someone who will be patient with him and kind to him. You can meet Georgie at the University District Petco. Georgie will be neutered and ready for adoption as of 1/2/11. His adoption fee is $250.00. We will have more info on Georgie soon.
